When planning a wedding, a great place to start is with one of your passions. Many brides absolutely love to garden, and this makes a fantastic theme for a wedding. A garden lover’s wedding can be casual or formal, but it will always be filled with beautiful flowers.

For a less formal garden lover’s wedding, there are a number of fantastic elements that you can include to set the stage. Begin by choosing a wedding invitation that gives your guests a hint of your theme. You can opt for stationery that has a soft floral design as the background, or choose a simple ivory stock with a garden motif, like a small engraved watering can, flower, or ladybug. If you like, the motif on your invitations can be carried throughout your wedding in a variety of places.

Naturally, the flowers will take center stage at a garden lover’s wedding. For brides whose passion is flowers, no generic centerpieces will do. Certainly you will want to include your favorite flowers in the arrangements, as well as some interesting and unique greenery to give them a personal flair. Instead of the typical vases, it would be very nice to place your centerpieces in garden themed vessels, such as an assortment of watering cans.

If you are having your wedding at home, you will want to begin planning your garden at least the year before to make sure that it is perfect for your wedding. Give some thought to the colors that you would like to have around you on your wedding day. It may mean making some changes to your landscaping. For instance, many brides who love to garden will create an all-white wedding garden to serve as the background for their special day. Recruit some friends with green thumbs to help you fill in any gaps with annuals immediately before your wedding day.

Beauty is an important part of any wedding. If you are an avid gardener, the one beauty treatment that you will definitely need is a really good manicure to get the last traces of garden soil from your fingernails! A soft and romantic hairstyle is perfect for a garden wedding. A very pretty accent would be to wear a few handmade floral hairpins that match your wedding jewelry. For instance, if you have chosen handmade wedding jewelry, than opt for a set of decorative hairpins that are created from freshwater pearls. It is a simple and lovely accent for your hair whether you wear a veil or not.

Gardeners can also find other ways to include floral items in their wedding design. Pretty floral print tablecloths can be wonderful for a garden reception. Layer napkins in a narrow stripe pattern over the florals for an interesting contrast. With busy linens, keep the china very simple to balance out your tables.

Fresh and simple foods will be right at home for a garden lover’s wedding. Juicy garden tomatoes, radishes, and cucumbers can even come right from your own garden if your wedding is going to be on the small size. Gardeners who enjoy canning may wish to give out jars of their own homemade relishes or jams as a wedding favor that your guests will love.

Garden lovers will find that there are many, many ways to tie their hobby in with their wedding design. Gardening enthusiasts already know all about flowers and usually have a good idea for color and design as well, so you are ahead of the game when it comes to wedding planning. Let your favorite flowers be co-stars in your special day for a wedding that will be truly beautiful.
